Pebble team is preparing New firmware update that due on next week, it is version 1.9 (already!) and i am still here waiting my 2 units of pebblers to arrive. In addition, company mentioned they will release “proof-of-concept watchface SDK” in April, which allow developers to create their own watchfaces.
Check out Pebble Update #34 at here and current manufacturing/shipment progress at ispebbleshipping.com.
Pledged two units of Pebble from Kickstarter since May 2012, but it just kept on delay and left all pebblers waiting endlessly. Although there are still actual shippment day, the Pebble team do working hard and feed us with email updates:
- As stated by Eric and Pebble Team on update #24: “…Pebble is not in mass production (MP) yet. MP will start as soon as we eliminate any outstanding issues and complete the final Production Verification (PV) build.”
- From update #26, the watch is currently in Production Verification (PV) build, the last step before mass production (MP).
- As mentioned in #update 17 and Update #23, the assembly line will be set up to manufacture 15,000 Pebbles per week. With total of 85,000 units, it will takes near to 6 weeks to finish it.
With the latest news of Pebble watch gets approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), we are one step closer to the final product. By refer to information provided on updates above, i estimate there will be another 3 months to get our hands on the actual watch. Pebble team got to act fast and push the watch to more clients, before those tech giants take their move to produce similar product. In addition, there are already rumours about Apple and Intel are working on a smart watch now.
Received an e-mail from Pebble yesterday, the “Project Update #18: User Interface Preview + Updates”. Although there are no update news on shipment date, but they released with title “UI preview with Martijn”.
Pledged 2 Pebble myself, September shipment already seems pretty long but still can deal with it. Unfortunately, just noticed Official Pebble tweeted about delay (tweet #1, tweet #2, tweet #3, tweet #4, tweet #5) of the Pebble Shipment with undecided date.
Hopefully it won’t take too long for the production. No matter what, Pebble’s concept is still the best (currently) with full of great future potential, they need to speed up and take down smart-watch segment in the market quick before big boys (ex: Samsung‘s flexible OLED screens or iWatch from Apple maybe?) stepped in.
Saw this from official Pebble twitter account today, an announcement of taking pre-order for pebble watch.
Interested client can now pre-order the watch on their official site. The smartwatch official priced at $150.00 USD, credit card will not be charge until the watch is ready to ship. Shipment estimate to be in early 2013 and shipping will be based on the date that client place their pre-order. For those that want to get it earlier next year, place the order in these few days to reserve in earlier shipment line.
Have been looking for Smartwatch that suitable for running, Sony SmartWatch is one of those available. But it doesn’t seems to have water resistant and review for running usage ain’t good, check on the review here: Sony SmartWatch review.
Recently this watch draw my attention because of good response on Kickstarter. Description: “Pebbleis the first watch built for the 21st century. It’s infinitely customizable, with beautiful downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps. Pebble connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, alerting you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages. While designing Pebble, we strove to create a minimalist yet fashionable product that seamlessly blends into everyday life.”
