Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX and Mizuno Wave Rider 15 Review

World of Outdoor and Mizuno at The Garden on October, some items discount to 30% and some of the past season shoes reduced up to 50% which is irresistible for me. In result, 2 pair of shoes as below,

i) Salomon XA Pro 3D ULTRA 2 GTX

My Timberland 57166 aged more than 3 years, lugs are consumed to lost it’s grip and outsoles are getting lesser to the point it hurts my legs during long hours hike. Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX are basically the best pair i have ever put on feet, excellent grip on any surface encountered, feels protected, excellent stability, lightweight and breathable. The GTX version stands for GORE-TEX® Fabrics which helps stay dry and comfortable.

As most of the Salomon Trail running shoes, it comes with Quiklace system, OrthoLite® footbeds and Sensifit™, with extra features such as Protective rubber toe cap, 3D advanced chassis™ and Energy Cell 2.

ii) Mizuno Wave Rider 15 (Lime Punch-Anthracite)

Basically the same shoe as previous Mizuno Wave Rider 15 (Anniversary Limited Edition), bought an extra one since the previous’s soles is getting lesser on the forefoot area. Been running it for few months, and these is what i found:

  • On 20KM easy run, the extra cushion on forefoot does help to avoid ball foot from hurting
  • Running 6KM fast on flat road with Mizuno Waver Rider feels effortless
  • Mizuno Wave Rider 15 is not a rock magnet like Salomon XR Crossmax, which is good
  • Brooks Half Marathon 2013

Nike We Run KL 2012: Race Day

*Update: Official race result available here: Nike We Run KL 10k 2012 Race Result

Been heavy raining since morning, and it haven’t fully stopped until the race started. Massive crowds, fortunately with organizing team’s past experiences, they managed it well, such as: SMS notification, well organized roads closure, wider path for run, water station for every 2km, dance performances on the route and the amazing performance from Miss Nina after the race.

However, i do find the morning race of previous Nike We Run is better, in the concern of safety, visibility (numbers of runner still passing through finishing line on 7.30pm), transportation (some participants are from other states) and photography (photographer needs to boost higher ISO for faster shutter due to low light).

Here are some photos from the race event,

  • NIKE’S WE RUN RACE SERIES RETURNS,
INSPIRING AND CONNECTING RUNNERS GLOBALLY WITH NIKE+

Malaysia part of 32 stops across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central Europe and Latin America with almost 400,000 participants expected to run in races from September to December 2012.

MALAYSIA, 3 SEPTEMBER 2012 – On 13 October 2012, Nike’s We Run race returns to Malaysia to inspire, support and connect runners around the world. Malaysia will be the 14th city out of 32 cities, with 15,000 runners expected. The runners will be part of a global We Run race movement, and will see a total of 395,500 runners from 34 cities participating. It will forge a new global community of athletes through Nike’s most connected race series yet with innovative Nike+ technology. The We Run race series kicked off on September 1 in Prague, Czech Republic, and will conclude on December 15 in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

This year’s race will be very different from previous Nike’s We Run races held as this will be the first evening run ever within the heart of Kuala Lumpur city. The Nike We Run KL 10km race will flag off from Jalan Ampang at 5.30pm and finish at Dataran Merdeka where the race village will be based. Last year, the Nike We Run KL closed out 10,000 slots in a record-breaking 60 hours, which remains to be the fastest race to close out ever in Malaysia till today. Due to the overwhelming popularity and demand of the race, the capacity has been increased to 15,000 this year.

Participants can expect a unique and memorable experience as they will be running against the backdrop of some of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic buildings such as the KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers. Other than the breathtaking views, runners can also immerse themselves with an exhilarating experience of different genres of music at designated entertainment zones along the route. The race village will see an explosion of entertainment acts by some of the biggest names in the local music industry, with exciting activities runners can engage and connect with to complete the runners’ experience. This year, participants who finish the 10K race will also earn an exclusive finisher’s tee on top of the usual race tee – more ways to remember their experience by.

To help runners go the distance, and build up their confidence towards race day, Nike will be hosting training sessions around Klang Valley. The training sessions are designed to help runners get the best out of themselves and to be mentally and physically prepared for race day. Runners can expect to see the likes of local athletes and celebrities joining the fun, making each session unique.

“This year’s edition of We Run KL, Nike wants to create an experience like no other. We are excited with the prospect of an evening race and we want every runner to feel good about themself. They will be part of a special community of runners who will be taking part globally in the We Run race series.

What will make this a truly unique experience is that the runners will be connected through Nike+, a global community where you can share your personal achievements, gain encouragement as you work towards your goal. And with that being said, this effectively makes Nike+ the biggest running community in the world. ” – Joan Yeoh, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Malaysia.
