Tea Garden Restaurant @ Mahkota Cheras

Another new franchise restaurant start to operate at Mahkota Cheras on 29th June 2015. Tea Garden (古文茶) Restaurant, the group that now having 22 outlets in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The environtment was designed in retro chinese coffee shop look, more traditional compare to thealready modern looking Old Town. Cleanliness consider good and equipped with air conditioner, no worry to enjoyyour food on the current hot weather.

One thing can be improve, the friendliness of waitresses, Tea Garden should hire one with better smile, not one that shows “black face” to customers. There are lots of energetic  Utar Students that searching for part time job opportunity, Tea Garden should consider it.

Food wise, it is not vegetarian friendly, hardly find meat free dishes, not recommend for vegan.

This is the dim sum page of menu that offer few meat-free dish.

Ordered curry chee cheong fun, glutinous rice roll and black glutinous rice soup with glutinous ball.

Their signature dim sum, glutinous rice roll which i call it sticky rice bun. Very special and stuffing, worth to give it a try, RM 5.80 for a plate.

Black glutinous rice soup with glutinous ball, consider not bad but nothing to special about, RM 5.80 for it too.

Their 10th anniversary set that offer one main dish plus a drink for RM 10 nett. My partner ordered nasi lemak with fried chicken, comes with their signature Hainamese tea.

The nasi lemak sambal taste so good that we asked for another refill. The sambal is spicy enough and contain little sweetness, could just eat whole plate of rice with the sambal. As for the frozen fried chicken, fail big time, suggest whoever that going, order the nasi lemak biasa is enough.

First try on Hainamese tea, it smells good and taste a little on the bitter side, a must try for kopitiam style tea lover.

Price are on par with Papa Rich, portion are normal. Very good things is, all price written on menu are GST included, no service charge and any other surprise charge.

I give a rating of 6.0/10, for their well decorate interior and delicious sambal. Restaurant information as below,

Went there with family for the first time on months back, ordered those dishes where we can check on quality of vegetables. As seen on picture above, it is all fresh and taste like it originally do, unlike some restaurant that try to cover it up by add-in salt and seasoning powder.

Very delicious spicy tofu with mushroom and sliced carrot.

Not sure what is this called, guessing something like sliced spring rolls.

Cravings @ Mahkota Cheras

Didn’t know this restaurant exist until my sister tell me about it. Cravings locate at corner side of end road, not as obviously seen as Padi House and PapaRich from the main road.

We went there for lunch on Valentine day, they have bit of related decoration and special design valentine dinner.

We were greet with a bottle of water, much appreciate in such a hot weather day, and great thing is, it is FOC.

They got different kind of special offer for everyday, we went on Saturday which is 20% off for salad and soup. Look at the menu above, at bottom left with Vegetarian food sign, which means those meals with the symbol are suitable for vegetarian.

We ordered all vegetarian dishes, Mario M Burger set (Grilled whole juicy portabello mushroom, stuffed with caramelised onions and oyster mushrooms with mushroom ketchup spread)

Pasta Linguine with Wild Mushroom (Sauteed wild mushrooms and linguine, tossed well with a dollop of homemade creme fraiche with shaved parmesan)

Summer Minestrone (A colourful and refreshing soup with tortiglioni and fresh vegetables that are in season)

*Update 05/03/2015: gf ordered a gratin, very delicious and worth a try. Wild Mushroom Bakked Penne, Baked Penne with mushroom cream sauce and 3 cheese blend.

Unlike some restaurants try to insert with hidden cost, Cravings doing differently by giving more offers. As picture above, the Lemon tea comes together with lunch meals without charge, there are already 3 offers from the start till now.

I give a rating of 7.5/10, with their menu design that ease vegetarian and generous portion of foods that can satisfied young teenagers that study in college/highschool nearby. For improvement, acoustic of the restaurant can be better, reflection of sound happens because of glass elements on surrounding.

Vege Town Vegetarian Steamboat (绿园火锅素食馆 ) @ Mahkota Cheras

Vegetarian Steamboat! Yes, one of the rare vegetarian restaurant that provide proper steambot experience, thanks to the owner bringing it into Mahkota Cheras. There is another sister shop with same name locate nearby that provide a la carte, check on photo above and address below to ensure you found the correct one.

Consider myself a regular customer of the restaurant since my parents and partner love to dine in here.

There are four choices of steamboat soup: miso, tomyam, herbal and clear soup (清汤).

My favourite dish, Chinese Toon Fried Rice, though there are peoples that don’t like the taste. I highly recommend it, as according to the owner, the chinese toon is fresh since it planted locally.

Ordered few side dishes, includes Rojak, fried Yong Taufu and Vietnamese Spring Rolls.

Total cost of RM 74.20 for the our lunch meal, RM 19.90 for a set of Steamboat. We ordered too much, which actually overwhelm for 4 person. I give a rating of 8.2/10, for plenty of parking space, quiet relaxing environment and friendly staffs. Restaurant information as below,
