Google I/O 2013

Here’s the announcements Google made at I/O:

  • Android & Google Play: In addition to new developer tools, we unveiled Google Play Music All Access, a monthly music subscription service with access to millions of songs that joins our music store and locker; and the Google Play game services with real-time multiplayer and leaderboards. Also, coming next month to Google Play is a special Samsung Galaxy S4, which brings together cutting edge hardware from Samsung with Google’s latest software and services—including the user experience that ships with our popular Nexus devices.
  • Chrome: With over 750 million active users on Chrome, we’re now focused on bringing to mobile the speed, simplicity and security improvements that we’ve seen on the desktop. To that end, today we previewed next-generation video codec VP9 for faster video-streaming performance; the requestAutocomplete API for faster payments; and Chrome Experiments such as “A Journey Through Middle Earth” and Racer to demonstrate the ability to create immersive mobile experiences not possible in years past.
  • Google+: We unveiled the newly designed Google+, which helps you easily explore content as well dramatically improve your online photo experience to give you crisp, beautiful photos—without the work! We also upgraded Google+ Hangouts—our popular group video application—to help bring all of your real-life conversations online, across any device or platform, and with groups of up to 10 friends.
  • Search: Search has evolved considerably in recent years: it can now have a real conversation with you, and even make your day a bit smoother by predicting information you might need. Today we added the ability to set reminders by voice and we previewed “spoken answers” on laptops and desktops in Chrome—meaning you can ask Google a question and it will speak the answer back to you.
  • Maps: Today we previewed the next generation of Google Maps, which gets rid of any clutter in order to put your individual experience and exploration front and center. Each time you click or search, our technology draws you a tailored map that highlights the information you need. From design to directions, the new Google Maps is smarter and more useful.

    Google Play Store v4.0.25‎ available for download now!

    Goggle starts rolling out Google Play Store Version 4.0.25‎ to Android smartphones and tablets. The new version comes with revised user interface design, such as larger graphic icons and more green color elements.

    As usual, the latest version of Google Play Store is first release in the U.S only, Malaysian might need to wait another few weeks before we see it available on our handset. However, there are no need to wait as XDA members already extracted and shared it out, head to any link below, download and install it by enable install from unknown sources.

    Google: Elections Hub for Malaysia GE13

    Google launched a Malaysia elections hub page Google.com.my/elections, it will contain feeds of latest information (ex: news, YouTube videos, search trends, links to political parties) related to 13th General Election where “citizens can study, watch, learn about and participate in the policy issues shaping the campaigns as Election Day nears”.

    In addition, Users will be able to search for real-time election information within the website and tap into voter information resources compiled from various sources.

    “Google’s mission is to make information universally accessible and useful to users—and this is definitely true for elections. We want to make sure Malaysians have access to all the information available to them in order to help them make a well-informed decision on election day,” said a Google spokesperson.

    Google Malaysia has also worked with various political parties, media owners and non-governmental organisations for the page, he added, saying the site would remain available as a future resource for Malaysian voters, including future general elections.

    Google Keep goes live now and it looks good!

    At last, the Google Keep is officially available now after it “disappeared” for a few days. Still doesn’t know what is Google Keep? It is a note taking application available on cross devices (ex: smartphone, tablets, dekstop) that stored on the cloud (Google Drive), similar and a direct compete to long existing Evernote.

    Installed on HTC One X+, working perfectly well and user interface are smooth! Design in a more fancy sticky notes way compares to Evernote’s professional looks. You can now access Google Keep at https://drive.google.com/keep/ or download it to Android device at Google Play: Google Keep

    Google Maps: Highest mountain on each of the seven continents in Street View!

    The Google Map “Street View” expand their exploratory to some of the most famous mountains on Earth, including Aconcagua (South America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe) and Everest Base Camp (Asia).     As stated by Google Malaysia, “These mountains belong to the group of peaks known as the Seven Summits—the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. While there’s nothing quite like standing on the mountain, with Google Maps you can instantly transport yourself to the top of these peaks and enjoy the sights without all of the avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from altitude and weather that mountaineers face”.

    Google Nexus 10 “New Baby” Commerical shows multi-user support feature

    Google released Nexus 10 commercial named “New Baby” and this is not the first time we’ve seen Nexus marketing team emphasized on family connections, remember Nexus 7′s commericals “Camping” and “Curious“?

    The ad shows off “multi-user support” that avialble on Nexus 10, where it “lets each user have their own separate space, and save their own individual high scores on games, all on the same tablet. And since Android is built with multitasking at its core, it’s a snap to switch between users – no need to log in and out each time”.

    Google Play celebrates first birthday with some free gifts!

    Its been a year since Google make the decision and dropped Android Market that surprised smartphone users which they found the Android Market icon is missing. On the same day, Google launched Android market replacement, dubbed as “Google Play” which offers more varieties, includes e-books, musics and movies.

    To celebrate Google Play’s first anniversary, developers added android related scene or characters to their games as video below.     According to CNET, these special offers from Google Play will only last for a week long.

    Google: New Google Glass video with User Interface

    Google Glass team released a new video on YouTube and its official site, showing off the innovative wearable headset with much more complete user interface, how it operates, and voice control features such as: photo capture, video recording, video chat, web search, messaging, sharing, navigation and on-screen translation support.
