WordPress: implement ‘Droid Sans’ font

The Google Web Fonts – “Droid Sans is a humanist sans serif typeface designed by Steve Matteson, Type Director of Ascender Corp. Droid Sans was designed with an upright stress, open forms and a neutral, yet friendly appearance. Droid Sans was optimized for user interfaces and to be comfortable for reading on a mobile handset in menus, web browser and other screen text.”

The example of the Droid Sans is right infront of you, the whole Kampung Toys blogs are using Droid Sans typeface now since i found previous fonts kinda messy and not read-friendly enough.

Below are two ways to implement Droid Sans from Google Fonts into your site:

1st method, insert code below on the top of Stylesheet (style.css)

2nd method, insert code below in Theme Functions (functions.php)

Then type in droid sans at the font family section, in Stylesheet (style.css) as below,

HTC One X+ compare to HTC One X

Drop and Cracked my HTC one X which got it since early April 2012. It is not worth for repair as explained by the technician, cost of repair will be not much differ than a new set. Urgently needed a phone as all information needed are stored on the clouds, so i have to purchased a new phone right-away.

(Straight to the death of my old HTC One X)

Since LG Nexus 4, Apple iPhone 5, HTC Butterfly are not available in Malaysia yet, there are only 2 phones left in my list, Samsung Galaxy Note II RM 2390 with a case and HTC One X+ RM 2000. Tested Galaxy Note II for a while, love the big 5.5″ HD Super AMOLED display and smart features but found it is too big for one hand operation.

(Brand new Polar White HTC One X+)

In the end, purchased a Polar White HTC One X+ (update version of One X), Brightstar ori set that comes with 12 months warranty. HTC One X+ was anounced on October 2, 2012 (Taipei, Taiwan) and available for sale at South Asia from mid-November 2012, detail can be read on official press release: “HTC introduces the HTC One™ X+. More speed, more storage and more battery life make HTC’s best rated android phone, even better“. According to the sales man, they just got the Black color stocks on November 21 and White color on November 25.

HTC One X+ Specs:

  • 4.7″ Super IPS LCD2 display, 1280×720 HD Res, Corning Gorilla Glass 2
  • 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 AP37 processor
  • 64GB internal storage, 1GB of RAM
  • Battery: 2100 mAh Lithium polymer battery
  • Main Camera: 8-megapixel, BSI sensor. 28mm f/2.0
  • Front camera: 1.6-megapixel
  • OS: Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ (Software Num: 1.14.707.16)
  • Size: 134.36 x 69.9 x 8.9mm
  • Sound: Studio-quality sound with Beats Audio™ built in

  • (navigation buttons in red on One X+)

(One X+ front camera includes a glass cover surface)

Comparison between HTC One X+ and HTC One X:

  • In the box: same packaging with One X,includes User Manual, Warranty cards, Battery Charger with USB cable and same old low end earphone

  • Processor: NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor AP37 speed bump to 1.7GHz (from 1.5GHz) and GPU boosted from 416MHz to 520MHz. Personally, i feels the same through daily operation probably due to Jelly Bean update on One X reduced the Gap.
  • Storage: from 32GB to 64GB of internal storage (around 56GB of usable space)
  • Battery: from 1,800mAh to 2,100mAh battery. Don’t expect great improvement here, with my normal usage, it left 26% after working hours.

  • Main Camera: immediate launch, faster burst mode (20 pictures in 3 seconds vs 5 second on One X), slight faster autofocus but not much differ on touch focus.
  • Front Camera: upgraded from 1.3MP to 1.6MP, brigther and clearer image quality. Improved design of front camera which include a glass cover surface that easier for user to clean (which is a dust collector spot on One X)
  • Video Capture: recording begin faster with quicker respond of auto-focus

  • Weight: One X+ is marginally heavier 135 grams versus previous 130 grams
  • Design: nice touch on 3 navigation buttons in red, Power button in silver, red camera ring and larger Beats logo
  • Notification light: Brighter and more noticeable
  • Vibrate: Stronger vibrate while typing or navigate

  • Speaker: improved with new audio circuitry, result louder audio and less distortion on Max volume. I notice the increased max volume on One X+ by watching The Laugh Factory on YouTube, which usually hard to listen clearly without cover my hand around One X’s speaker to bounce the audio.

  • (Silver power button)
