Mazda 3: Cracked WindScreen

Cracked my windscreen for the third time, got this from a white Proton Saga FL on Federal Highway not long after Mid Valley. Unlike previously just a small stone chips, it is a star shape cracks surrounding a bull-eye hole in middle, extend to more than 5-Centimeters long.

Citroen Malaysia: DS4 THP 200 DSport and DS4 THP 163

DS4 was the second model launched under Citroen’s DS line, a smaller brother to the gorgeous DS5. It features unique styling with consummately worked lines, the DS4 is styled as a 2+2 coupe which appear like a 2 doors coupe but actually comes with 4 doors. In Malaysia, we are getting two variants: the normal DS4 THP 163 (163hp/240 Nm) and tuned up 1.6 turbo prince engine sport version, DS4 THP 200 DSport (197hp/275Nm).

Citroën DS4 THP 200 DSport, i was surprised when Mr Zamani introduced the DS4 THP 200 DSport, didn’t know NAZA is bringing this variant too, this is definitely a good news for stick shifters and hot hatch lovers.

Exterior are exactly the same for the two variant, there are no way to differentiate the two by not looking into engine or interior. Speaking of engine, to check on engine compartment, you need to open the bonnet through a lifter that stored at the left side of passenger seat.

Differences by comparing DS4 THP 200 DSport to DS4 THP 160, DSport comes with:

- automatic electronic car park instead of manual hand brake
- performance turbocharged engine that provides more power, 197hp/275Nm
- Manual 6-speed transmission with leather gear stick + knob
- DS4 THP 200 DSport is RM 10k more than price of normal DS4

Citroen DS5 1.6 THP 156 on Citroen Day, Glenmarie

The French brand “CITROËN” is not strong in Malaysia (obviously as hardly seen on the road) with Brooklands Motors as the sole importer and distributor for Citroen since November 2007. I was surprised when i first saw the news of NAZA appointed by PSA Peugeot-Citroën Group as official distributor in early 2013. Since NAZA is doing great in building up Peugeot brand, i do hope they do the same with Citroen too because personally prefer design of Citroen’s and especially the DS line.

Citroen DS5 is the family car of the year which awarded by Top Gear on December 2011, stated “It’s a well-grounded, slick, futuristic machine, both inside and out. In fact, the inside is quirky but rational, exciting but functional, and put together with considerable care, just like the rest of the car. And that makes it very pleasing indeed. All of which goes to show that because the DS5 isn’t a half-hearted copy of a German saloon, it’s the better for it. Say hello to the TopGear Family Car of the Year, the Citroen DS5. A beautiful oddball in a dreary sector.”

The car equipped with 1.6L Prince twin-scroll turbo I4 Petrol 156 hp/240 Nm (same as peugeot 308 Turbo), six-speed automatic transmission, 7.3 km per litre while CO2 emissions are limited to 169g per 100km. According to Mr Zamani, currently there are no plan for Citroen DS5 THP 200 Sport variant yet, for Malaysia stick shifter that looking for higher powertrain, you may look into Citroen DS4 THP 200 DSport that comes with 6-speed manual transmission.

The Host, Chrome Lotus Evora @ Pavilion

In conjunction with screening of sci-fi movie “The Host“, a chrome vinyl wrapped (fitted with special-effect lighting) Lotus Evora is currently display at Level 3, Couture Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from 1st April 2013 until 10th April 2013, and transfer to IPC Shopping Centre, Mutiara Damansara for display from 11th April 2013 to 28th April 2013 according to Business Time Malaysia.

As stated in the press release, “Negotiations for a “hero car for ‘Lead Seeker’” started in early October 2011 and by the end of the month Lotus had agreed to provide a number of Evoras to the project directed by its screenwriter Andrew Niccol who was looking for an extraordinary car for the role. The Lotus Evora was chosen for its stunning and futuristic aesthetic, which when juxtaposed with contemporary locations, gives a truly alien element to the Sci-Fi movie.”

Mazda 3: Cruise Indicator Light-on when start the car

On end of February, My Mazda 3 2010 keep display cruise indicator light whenever the car started, as image below, the issue continuous for more than 2 weeks. To get the light away, i just cancel it by pressing cruise control off button, but it comes to my concern when it starts to show everyday instead of occasionally.

Went to local service centre but none of them able to solve the problem, called up friends that driving Mazda but still no good answer. Then i found this forum thread: Cruise Control Light on Startup, stated by forum meber Vegaspilot,

“Well after having this problem at various times for the past year, it seems I finally got it fixed. Some days it would do it on every single start, other days hardly at all. I had the dealer chasing it the past three times I had it in for oil changes. This last time it was in the other day, it finally did it for the tech. He noticed that the engine was cranking a bit slower (I had been noticing that as well). Turns out the battery was going bad and failed the load test. Had them replace the battery and so far, no more Cruise Control light on start up. I’ll let you guys know if it comes back, but if you’re having this problem check the battery. Seems to have fixed it here. Good luck!”

Without a doubt, drove my car to service centre and got the 2 years old Battery replaced for RM 270. Good news is the light issue gone for about 2 weeks now, and i assume it was caused by insufficient car battery voltage.
