Penang: Fig Tree Hill Resort @ Sungai Ara

Sister of mine book us a hidden resort in the hill at Penang as a getaway on Chinese New Year. Instead of forest, the resort is actually place on the hill within fruit valley which is not far a way from a urban resident area.

It take us around 45 minutes from Georgetown to the destination, the place is challenging to locate, as there are no telco signal here, using Waze might be a problem. In addition to the challenge, there are no sign-board that lead you to resort, moreover, with 10 minutes road path that only fit for a single car.

If you are visiting here, i suggest you to contact the staff and arrange a meet up somewhere around Bayan Lepas.

If you are a fan of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, you might find few similar scene relate to those movies.

According to the staff, the resort previously equipped with 5 unique design of separate buildings for stay, now they have extend to 7. A bigger room that we (7 peoples) stay comes with large living room with karaoke equipment, dining hall, spacious toilet, 2 rooms and big balcony cost RM 1000. For couple room, it cost RM 400+.

The owner Peter Soon bought the land on more than ten years ago. Spend time to design, plan and create. Collected woods from China, Vietnam and Indonesia. Door and windows are from Malaysia, where lights decoration are from Turkey.

The resort provide a nice wooden tea hut, simple gym tools and a medium size water pool for extra activities choices. If you are interested in morning walk, remember to inform staff, so they can arrange people to open main gate according to your timing.

The building up on left was the room we stayed for 3 days 2 night, it got a long balcony, spacious living room, 2 bed rooms, a bathroom that separate toilet and shower part.

Nice decoration of stairway, and it looks even better at night, like a fairy tale in real life.

The long balcony that connected from front to side, numbers of seats, swing chair and a bbq stove avalaible.

Living included Astro channels, touch-screen Karaoke system and plenty of space for a medium size family.

All the room equipped with queen size bed and air conditioner.

Creative open air shower area with water heater.

You may be owner of building for a day or two, but you can’t stop them from entering. These cat (and an old dog) family are permanent resident and been here for a long time.

Simple and nice set-up breakfast that truly appreciate by us on the mornings. Do take note that, there are no lunch or dinner available in resort or anywhere nearby where reachable within 15 minutes for a proper meal. It is either you pack some foods before or drive to restaurant at town.

A nice getaway choice on Chinese New year for a quiet and good rest. Recommend to those who want to experience a little bit of nature stay without travel into jungle such as Taman Negara.
