The French brand “CITROËN” is not strong in Malaysia (obviously as hardly seen on the road) with Brooklands Motors as the sole importer and distributor for Citroen since November 2007. I was surprised when i first saw the news of NAZA appointed by PSA Peugeot-Citroën Group as official distributor in early 2013. Since NAZA is doing great in building up Peugeot brand, i do hope they do the same with Citroen too because personally prefer design of Citroen’s and especially the DS line.
Citroen DS5 is the family car of the year which awarded by Top Gear on December 2011, stated “It’s a well-grounded, slick, futuristic machine, both inside and out. In fact, the inside is quirky but rational, exciting but functional, and put together with considerable care, just like the rest of the car. And that makes it very pleasing indeed. All of which goes to show that because the DS5 isn’t a half-hearted copy of a German saloon, it’s the better for it. Say hello to the TopGear Family Car of the Year, the Citroen DS5. A beautiful oddball in a dreary sector.”
The car equipped with 1.6L Prince twin-scroll turbo I4 Petrol 156 hp/240 Nm (same as peugeot 308 Turbo), six-speed automatic transmission, 7.3 km per litre while CO2 emissions are limited to 169g per 100km. According to Mr Zamani, currently there are no plan for Citroen DS5 THP 200 Sport variant yet, for Malaysia stick shifter that looking for higher powertrain, you may look into Citroen DS4 THP 200 DSport that comes with 6-speed manual transmission.
This is one gorgeous car seen that comes with concept car alike outlook, premium interior and a competitive on-the-road price (RM195k), by comparing to the more expensive Volkswagen CC Comfort (RM226k) and recent launched Mazda 6 2.5SDN (RM 189k) – which i found not much attractive on exterior and lack of interior gadgets (ex: commander switch, head up display).
As mentioned by Mr Zamani, we are getting full specs for Citroen DS5, nothing is missing-out here, whatever equipments that offered in Europe DS5, we are getting in Malaysia too. Unlike Japenese brands (H,T,M) distributors trying to cut down the cost, where you can see few gadgets are missing out here and there (ex: sunroof, commander switch, rear view camera and more!).
Lots luxury design in interior such as: Red Club leather with bracelet confection, electric front seats with memory functionality, lumbar/massage functionality for the driver’s seat and automatic electric parking brake as image above, further down from commander switch with yellow brake sign (no more hand pulling parking brake needed).
The aircraft-styled overhead controls with cockpit roof features three separate glass roofs (one each for the driver and front passenger, one for the rear passengers) that enhance the overall ambience in the cabin. The Citroen DS5 is definitely worth for its price range with all these premium equipements, but i do think the more powerful Citroen DS5 THP 200 Sport will provide more oomph and driving enjoyment for driver.
